Three affordable and good Japanese restaurants in Qatar for newbies

When you think about Japanese cuisine a few things that pop into mind are sushi, tempuras, ramen and sashimi. But in reality, Japanese cuisine is very vast and have a wide variety of dishes depending on the region. To name a few Takoyaki (octopus balls), Kaarage (fried) chicken, Omurice (fluffy omlette over fried rice), Okonomiyaki (a savoury pancake) from Osaka come to mind.

Then there are the fine dining experience. Qatar boasts of some exclusive Japanese restaurants like Nobu, Morimoto and Chotto Matte. But we will keep those ultra-expensive ones for another day.

Affordable Japanese restaurants in Qatar offer a delightful blend of authentic flavors and budget-friendly dining experiences. These eateries typically feature a wide range of traditional dishes such as sushi, sashimi, tempura, and ramen, all prepared with fresh ingredients and meticulous attention to detail. Popular spots often are small venues with minimalist decor, creating an intimate and welcoming atmosphere. Many of these restaurants also offer set menus and bento boxes, providing a complete meal at a reasonable price, making it easier for diners to enjoy a variety of Japanese cuisine without breaking the bank.

Here we are looking at some affordable options. This is not a review, just introducing Qatar foodies to some interesting affordable options. Check them out, will not burn a hole in your pocket and food is better than good…

Ninja Ramen Qatar

Locations: Al Mana Hotel, Burj Al Mana and Al Doha Al Jadeda Metro Station

This Ramen place really caught the attention of foodies when they opened doors in Qatar. It was saw good crowd throughout that they have 3 branches now at Al Mana Hotel, Burj Al Mana and Al Doha Al Jadeda Metro Station. You can customize the Ramen as per your taste choosing the toppings.

The crowd favourite is Tori Paitan Ramen starting at QR38. This white, cloudy, gentle-tasting chicken soup is rich in collagen. The soup is made in their our kitchens simmering for eight hours every day. The noodles are imported directly from Japan. Two toppings are included in the basic price and you can add extra. 

Then they have Shio Ramen for QR35, Shoyu Ramen for Qr35 and Miso Vegetarian Ramen for QR38. 

In addition, they have various Onigiris and rice bowls.

Yee Hwa Restaurant

Locations: Millennium Place, Lagoona Mall, Al Kinana St., Doha Souq Mall

This is not an exclusive Japanese joint. But they are well-known for their Korean and Japanese food. They have an all you can eat Sushi, Sashmi and BBQ on weekends for around QR150. They are not that cheap but mid-tier and have many options to choose from and have a solid reputation among foodies for serving authentic food.

Fudo

Locations: Muntazah, Bin Mahmoud, B- Ring Road - Doha Al Jadeeda

This is an Asian Fusion Restaurant known for its Sushi and Maki. They are affordably priced and a lot to choose from. They have an extensive list of dishes including Takoyaki for QR25 (6 pieces), salmon Nigiri for QR 45 (6 pieces) and Chicken Japanese curry for QR38 among others.
